The story begins when Andrea Costa - the progenitor of the
\nhomonymous Genoese family - starts to sell olive oil and textiles from Sardinia to Liguria. In the second half of the 19th century, the Costa company specialises in buying raw olive oil in Mediterranean countries, with the aim of exporting it overseas.<\/p>\n\t\t

The first bottles of oil are sent to North America, Argentina and even Australia under the Dante<\/strong> brand, giving the exported oil a name which would immediately be associated with Italy.<\/p>\n\t\t

Andrea Costa\u2019s son, Giacomo, founds the \u201cGiacomo Costa fu Andrea\u201d<\/strong> trading company with an ambitious vision in mind: bringing a little bit of Italy into kitchens around the world.
\nHis winning mission would bring Olio Dante to the tables of millions of consumers for over a century.<\/p>\n\t\t

In 2008, Spanish group SOS-Cuetara buys the Italian brand from the Anglo-Dutch multinational Unilever \u2013 which had bought it in 1985 from the Costa family \u2013 to later resell it, in April of 2009, to the Oleifici Mataluni in Montesarchio<\/strong> (Benevento, Italy), where the company is currently established.
\nThus the Dante brand returns to Italian hands after 24 years.
\nMeanwhile, from 2006 onwards, the company - later renamed Olio Dante S.p.A. - had also bought up several other historic brands, including Topazio, OiO, Lupi and Olita.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t

The ISMEA (a public financial body linked to the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies) participates in Olio Dante S.p.A.\u2019s capital in order to strengthen the presence of its brands across national borders.<\/p>\n\t\t

\nNumber 1 in Italy as a brand in the olive oil category (NielsenIQ dec. 2025 data), Olio Dante ranks among the main producers of edible oils on the international scene along with the most important historic Italian labels, also producing private-label products for selected Italian and foreign large-scale retail companies.
\nConstant growth on foreign markets, a high quality profile and the development of innovative products are among the main targets of the company, which boasts a modern production plant, spread across a surface area of 50,000m\u00b2, with a mill (250,000kg of olives\/day), 2 refineries (olive and seed, 250,000kg\/day), 20 bottling lines (1,000,000l\/day) and a high-level quality control laboratory.<\/p>\n\t\t

La multinazionale anglo-olandese Unilever rileva Olio Dante.<\/p>\n

Nel 2008 il gruppo spagnolo SOS-Cuetara acquisisce il brand italiano dalla multinazionale anglo-olandese Unilever (che lo aveva acquisito nel 1985) per poi rivenderlo, nell\u2019aprile 2009, agli Oleifici Mataluni di <strong>Montesarchio<\/strong> (Benevento), dove oggi \u00e8 stabilita l\u2019azienda.
\nGli Oleifici, sotto la guida del Presidente Biagio Mataluni, riescono a riportare in Italia lo storico brand dopo 24 anni. Nel frattempo, dal 2006 in poi, l\u2019azienda – successivamente rinominata Olio Dante S.p.A. – aveva acquistato diversi altri brand storici, tra cui <strong>Topazio, OiO, Lupi e Olita<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ismea (ente pubblico economico legato al Ministero delle Politiche Agricole, Alimentari e Forestali) entra nel capitale della Olio Dante S.p.A., al fine di rafforzare la presenza dei marchi oltre i confini nazionali.<\/p>\n

La management company Oxy Capital, insieme al fondo Attestor Capital, decide di investire nell\u2019azienda, con un piano industriale di sviluppo, incentrato sull\u2019incremento della saturazione degli impianti produttivi e sull\u2019internazionalizzazione.<\/p>\n

L\u2019azienda vanta un moderno impianto di produzione, esteso su una superficie di 50.000 metri quadrati, con un frantoio (250.000 kg di olive \/ giorno), 2 raffinerie (olive e semi, 500.000 kg \/ giorno), 20 linee di imbottigliamento (1.000.000 lt \/ giorno) e un laboratorio di controllo qualit\u00e0 di alto livello.
